Wtf is the Met Gala?

Is it literally just like a famous person party that everyone likes to watch? I don’t understand what do they do there

What do people actually do at the Met Gala?

Do they all just fawn over each other’s crazy outfits or do they actually do something there? Do they dance? Eat? Listen to speeches? Never understood it.
Top Comment: I think they walk around the museum and look at the exhibits, have some drinks and dinner, watch some sort of performance (this year it was Ariana Grande performing some of her songs), and I assume that’s about it. There will be multiple after parties to go to afterwards as well, but not hosted at the Met.
